Call for participants Peace week Athens
Are you interested in joining an International group of volunteers keen to explore the role of European Union and Citizenship rights? Would you like to take part in public awareness activities, art and discussions about the Extreme Right, Refugees or Asylum Seekers issues? Are the words debate and action, a good description of your ideals and frame of mind?
1. Participate in one of the Peace Weeks
The Project Citizens Beyond Walls, carried out with the support of the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union is organizing 8 “Peace Weeks” in8 European Capitals this summer. You can be one of the 14 participants from Netherlands that can participate in the peace weeks in Europe. 55% of the travel costs (up to 200 euro) as well as food and accommodation are covered.

The first Peace is already, Athens between the 4th - 13th July 2014, within the Citizens Beyond Walls framework.

4. Visit the Peace Week in the Netherlands
If you are interested in the topic but you cannot travel abroad, you can still participate in the peace week in the Netherlands that will take place in Utrecht at the ACU from 7th till 13th of July. Stay tuned for more information
Citizens beyond walls summer workcamps: Peace weeks
As part of the project 8 special "Peace-Week" workcamp projects will be held in each of the participating 8 European countries in the summer of 2014: Greece, Spain, Serbia, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, The Netherlands, Germany
The aim of the project "Citizens Beyond Walls" is fostering inclusive policies to respect Citizens' rights in Europe, with specific focus on new citizens and minorities. Extreme right wing groups are a threat for peace in Europe, where peace is not only absence of conflict but the condition where citizens' are equally endowed of rights. "Citizens Beyond Walls", is an action aimed at activating European Citizens to counter the mentioned process.

Elin in Jordan
Elin, a VIA volunteer who was the coordinator of the Asylum seeker centrum project that VIA did in Almelo during the summer is heading for a new experience. She will participate in a long term volunteering project in Jordan organized by SCI, where she will be volunteering in a refugee camp with Syrian refugees.
